WAAM process for metal block structure parts based on mixed heat input

Additive manufacturing based on robotic welding is used for the manufacture of metal parts by applying an arc as a heat source and wire feedstock. The process known additive (WAAM). However, current WAAM has limitation in fabricating block structure components with high geometry accuracy consistent due to complexity lack appropriate planning methods. Furthermore, common defects such voids, gaps, collapse decrease mechanical properties final product. This paper presents novel method mixed input (MHI) strategy minimize voids that occur large while maintaining efficiency. By separating each layer into boundary layers inner layers, MHI applies various conditions at different positions allowing construction defect-free components. performance this shown validation study considered fabrication regular component. To evaluate deposited sample, hardness microstructure are reported compared conventional process. Then, applied component similar study. robustness proposed complex geometric evaluated two case studies. results show succeeds achieving production efficiency quality simultaneously.
